Ballet classes have been shown to improve the quality of life for senior citizens in a number of ways, helping to improve physical mobility and increase mental stimulation. Through the Golden Swans program, it is Oklahoma City Ballet’s mission to extend the benefits of ballet to the senior members of our community.
Classes are designed for both students who have had no prior dance experience as well as those who may be more familiar with dance. Classes are completely free and offered at multiple locations and times.
Class times:
NOTE: There are no classes Wednesday, July 31 through Friday, August 16.
Classes will resume August 19, 2024.
Anyone is welcome to attend our beginner class, but it is formatted and designed for beginner Swans. The class will focus on basic ballet terminology and technique.
Swans wishing to attend the Thursday class should be comfortable with basic terminology and steps or have attended the Cygnet Swans class for at least 9 months.
Classes are also being conducted off site at Edmond Senior Center, Salvation Army Senior Center (Danforth), and Mustang Parks & Recreation Center .

“For anyone who’s danced, Golden Swans gives you your soul back. For anyone who’s never danced but always wanted to, the program helps you find your soul. This is the nicest thing I’ve done for myself in a really long time.”
— Robin Martin, Golden Swans dancer
“It brings me back to my childhood. Once the music started in class, I wanted to cry because it brought back that feeling of joy. It’s just good for the soul.”
— Cynthia Brindley, Golden Swans dancer
