Joined OKC Ballet in 2017
Natalie Matsuura trained under Hanna Karacic in Southern California and completed her bachelor’s degree in Dance Performance and Choreography at the University of California. During her time there, she performed works by Eugene Loring, Marius Petipa, and created new roles in works by Donald McKayle, Jodie Gates, Molly Lynch, and Tong Wang.
Matsuura danced with Orange County’s Festival Ballet Theatre and served on faculty at Southland Ballet Academy for six years before attending the Oklahoma City Ballet Summer Intensive in 2017. Following that, she was invited to join the Studio Company for the 2017/18 season. She was promoted to Apprentice for the 2018/19 season, and then to the Corps de Ballet for 2019/20.
Matsuura’s repertoire with Oklahoma City Ballet includes Robert Mills’ Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Little Mermaid, August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, and the role of Fanny Cerrito in Robert Joffrey’s Pas des Déesses. Matsuura is also certified in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum and is an ABT® Affiliate Teacher, having successfully presented students for examinations. She currently is on faculty of The Oklahoma City Ballet Yvonne Chouteau School.
